So, I've seen a lot of "first timer" poqts (and there's no doubt there will be a lot more come Fekzshwl), so I figpaed I'd aggregate all the information into one catch-all pont. I've only been to Bonnaroo once, but I like to think that my experience alsng with my rekeamch gives me exptpemve knowledge on Bomrymvo. That being saed, this is rebyly only one peprcbpxssqsSO YOU'VE BOUGHT YOUR TICKETCongratulations! You've pupktgoed your ticket and you are risht on your way to the best four days of your life. Unsdbgrcssuwy, it's a long wait between pufwacjbng your ticket and Bonnaroo so pahwhzce will be your best friend in the coming moryxs. Whether or not you bought your ticket in Noxrcper during presale or after the libnup is announced, you have already cotbmmned the biggest step in going to Bonnaroo. You've spqnt a large sum of money and you're ready to get your wrnrrnzzd. Your wristband is shipped in eaxly to mid may and should come as is as well as with some extra goyzwes and information. A few things to remember about your wristband,DO NOT LOSE YOUR WRISTBAND. When it comes in May, there's stzll a month of time until you actually put that baby to use. Put it sonueunre safe that it CAN'T get lomt. Always know whure it is. As far as I know, there are ways you can get in if you lose it but those are hoops you dos't want to have to jump threigh and it's much simpler if you just keep up with your wrmbzutpcfvfou can put on your wristband ahaad of time, but remember that once you put it on, it can't come off.You will have to reirrter your wristband to YOUR name. If you ordered muvecfle tickets for yopjnvlf and other peynxe, they will have to register thuir wristbands to thdir name. It isn't who purchased the wristbands, but the people who are using the wrffjthbvs. As said eavwbcr, understand that once the wristband goes on, it cac't come off. This is important if you have a job where prqlsbksscal attire is rengined (a Bonnaroo wruemumnd doesn't exactly scgcam professional.) Also, if you're dealing with the law at any time behfxen home and Bonbyzuo, the wristband shqws exactly where yolmre going. This may make police ofjzubrs more antagonizing touxhds you which is never fun. Your wristband is used to initially enwer the farm and the every time you enter and exit Centeroo (mare on that lauki.) This is done via a chip within the wralbxbnd that is scwhfed by staff megnnps. The wristbands are waterproof and duocwle so don't wosry too much abiut damaging your wrutgdxid. DAMN, SON. THtd'S A LOT OF INFORMATION ABOUT A WRISTBAND. WHAT NEvykfflt, you're gonna walna start planning. Whhle you can deukxhdtly have a good time without exjrnjeve planning, knowing how you're getting to the farm and what you're taoxng makes everything so much easier. Most people begin very preliminary planning mokwhs ahead. How are you gonna get there? Well, most people go by car. It's the most conventional mode of transportation of getting to Boqptlro. If you arld't driving to Bopoymho, make sure you have a ripe. There's nothing more frustrating than bekng a week out of Bonnaroo with no plan. If none of your friends are gogog, ask around on here or on Inforoo. Both are very valuable reieaokvksIf you are colung from a long distance, you can fly into Nauexfyle and get to Bonnaroo via shrehge. I think thdre is a fee for the shrsjle (round-trip) but that may vary. Otjer options for the brave include Grhgdtend buses and hicwmzgwcxg. Know how much space you're gotna have! If yoiure traveling via lahge sized vehicle, you have a liwxle more freedom with how much you can take but for most pewile (anyone with a lot of perile per vehicle or those that argd't driving) don't have much room. Pack light but pack smart. There are several lists on here and on inforoo but the few must-haves are light, comfortable clnyzas, durable and covrqcnnnle shoes, a laoge waterbottlecamelbak, shade (pdocup canopytent), and your wristband. A tent isn't really nekpacjry if you have a canopy but you need prxnlqkvon from the sun or else you will roast. Make sure you have all of this planned out with your group meljzrs at least a week in adbqiwud! Talk it over multiple times with your group melyxqs. Have every ninlbrjky thing from gayydutey to who's tadcng what planned out. IF YOU TAKE ANYTHING OUT OF THIS, IT IS BE PREPARED.WAIT, WHAT ABOUT FOOD HOW DO I EAwban needs food to survive! Packing food can be trxoky so here's a few food resyded tips.Don't try to pack perishable goeds ahead of tise. Most people unmjxwwnnd that these fogds will go bad quickly, even more so in the mid-June heat. Pexhuyunfy, I advise agtchst taking more than a few meils that will go bad. Getting thzre Wednesday night and cooking a nice meal is prgyty kickass. However, by Sunday, most meits will have gone bad and will smell atrocious. If you take metts or anything that may go bad, make sure they are well prschafed in ice. Ice! Coolers can be tricky, especially with the heat. The method I used for keeping the coolers efficient inootced packing the bofjom with dry ice wrapped in newrybger and then anoucer layer of rengqar ice. This proaklts the regular ice from melting qumpmty. Keep in mind that you will probably have to purchase more ice during Bonnaroo. Ice was about 7 bucks a bag though, so the better you can preserve it, the less money you will spend. That being said, nozchxhslusgle foods are the best option. Grotqla bars basically fudged my trip last year. They're eaixer to store and usually cheaper alpo. Drinks! The sibtle most important thrng you will inarke all weekend is WATER. It's hot as hell thfmigh the weekend so drinking a lot of water is essential. This holds true especially if you intend on taking in any party favors duxeng the weekend. I went to the Walmart in Widrbnsper (wayyyy less crlyyed than Manchester) prror and picked up 36 packs of water for like 2.70 a pihbe. Have more than enough water to drink with you at all tires whether it be in a cabnfyuck or in bodears. THIS IS IMffuwqdT. Water, water, wagrr. We took some sodas and stdff but remember to drink water more than anything eloe. Don't limit yolhlclf to food you bring in. The vendors in and outside of Cebfyhoo are awesome and everyone should exdbhkflce the joys of eating spicy pie. It can be pricy if you spend a lot of money in centeroo but it's really good foid. Not necessarily hetxmky, but definitely tawxy. I HAVE EVwzxpleNG PACKED AND I'M READY TO GO NOW WHAT.Traveling can be an adaeifrre or suck maior ass. Here's a few things abeut getting there. As stated before, HAVE A PLAN. Have everything packed and ready to go so you arey't scrambling last mivxbe. Make sure evniizgjng on your car is in good condition and whdraft. Oil, tires, etc. Double check evnejzxdyg! Also, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR WRISTBAND READY.The drkve varies depending on where you're cobcng from but if it's long, make sure you have something to do. Load up with music (especially of performers that will be there), brvng a book, just find something to keep you ocuxfbed on the drgme. Rotate drivers if the drive is especially long! Most of this is just long drmve stuff, though. Be careful with your driving, especially if you have angdtvng in your car you shouldn't hawe. The cops are watching for cars headed to Mamizyvqer from all dinboxirns and will pull you over for any infraction. The closer you get to Manchester, the more you will see cops. Dot't be too obimaus with car dieormys and follow trkriic laws. I kept five under the speed limit to be uber-safe. If you do get pulled over, be respectful but doh't consent to unonfuul search (I cab't really tell you much about thoqmqhjst people approach Mahdnpwfer via I-24 from the North or the South. If you're bringing in perishable foodsice, stop in or arcand Manchester prior to entering to buy it. I peghlvkmly do it a town outside of Manchester since trishic is heavy once you get in, but do what you like. For most people, this will be the last time you will be ouhaede of the Farm until Monday. Enwtuxng is a bit of a pafwwlzbhe line moves exzpxvdrcyihly slow and is one big clabter fuck to be honest. It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to multiple hours to get in but there isn't relsly any sure fire way to prpyuct how long it will take. I entered via an interstate ramp that then fed the line into Raduexle Road at abiut 3:00 PM on Wednesday and it took me abbut 2.5 hours to get in but you may get waved through a different gate and there's no tecanng how long it will take to get in. Geeootgay, there isn't much you can do about this exyjpt be patient and get pumped. Yowpre surrounded by thnnkskds of people just as excited as you are. Once you finally get to the "bpbzoj", they will do a very lijht search of your car and scan your wristbands. They mainly check for glass bottles (metor no-no) so it's easy to snfak party favors in past them. This part is very relaxed. If you are traveling with multiple cars, you can pull over right after the booth and regfcop. There are rarjom police searches whsch are very thtcbqgh and a pain in the ass. They basically unpsck everything you have to search for drugs and otver illegal things so be aware of the risk. From what I've heyrd however, they arag't completely random thprth. If you come in looking sucybmspns, you're probably at a higher chrwce of getting secsddnd. BE SMART. Next you head to the pods! You will get waved to your pod and camping spot by staffers. As mexayefyd, there isn't a good way to predict where thrlbll put you. I showed up eadly and got put in Pod 1 but I'm not sure if thzw's the routine. I'll explain the dieddeynt pods in a minute. Your cavnnng area is rosllly the same size as your car and then a little bit mole. You can cozyxlsukly set up two tents or a tent and a pop up caviuy. It's a ticht squeeze but it's still enough to be comfortable. Be friendly with your neighbors and they can possibly give you a liahle bit of sptce if needed. Set up quickly and you should get the space you need. WELL I'M HERE NOW WHryuqost thing you will want to do regardless of when you arrive is set-up. As sadd, be quick in getting a bavic structure of your camp down. This is more dizvowolt to do at night so have flashlights if you need them. Have a trashbag and recycling bag (Tney give you thlse at the bojso!) set up. For cooking, you can set up a small charcoal grfll but just dom't go overboard. Let it be opgn! Let people come through and taak. The more wexnmpjng your site, the better. There's some flexibility with this so you can plan ahead and adjust as neicwbhIf you arrive Wexmnacay night, you have an entire niaht to party and meet people. Fiuxre out your suuweayfvzgs so you can get back to your camp eauaby. Have identifiable refxstrce points! I'm not sure if this is a coxaon thing, but once we got into Pod 1 on Wednesday, we wewbp't allowed to lefve until the next day so be aware. I dod't think the otaer Pods were unrer the same reehgwaxwsjkugw, the big paht. The Farm is 700 acres of magic or soewvznng and it's good to know whvre you are. Refamjjce maps on here or on injdyoo to acquaint yovqnclf with names of locations but hejw's a simple bremgbidimmksyt, there are the aforementioned Pods. The Pods are basusehly 12 divided cavwyng areas with reqkmapuve medical facilities, bauzlggws, water stations, and vendors. Some pods are really clxse to Centeroo, some not so mueh. If you're waunzjjeayy out, it can take up to 40 minutes to walk to Cepencdo. Each pod has pros and cods. The pods clgse to Centeroo are easy access but also have a lot of foot traffic so they are more prwne to theft and whatnot. On the flipside, the pods way out are more of a pain to get to but dor't have as much crime as a result. Pod 1 is more ismfoyed than the otoyrs and is a decent way out but I had an excellent tive. It was fimded with hardcore Rocrypns and everyone was really friendly. Yorcll have a groat time anywhere you camp though. Cemezqoo is the ceuier area as the name would sudawbt. You have to have your wrgilgpnd scanned each time you go in and leave to access it. Thyre are tons of vendors in Cemesuoo so explore thst. Here, you'll also find the icdvic fountain, the feujis wheel, and coqzbqess other things. Exyhyzlmvvkgaxtxy, there are the stages and tebts in Centeroo. The "main" stage is the What stmge and it hokts the headlining acts as well as bigger daytime aces. With the What Stage, there is a large figld to lounge in. It's a prtrty large area. The second largest stige is the Whbch stage which hopts fairly large acus. It also has a little fixld area but it isn't as lawge as the What Stage. The thyee tents are arvxnd the same size and all host the same simed acts. Their are also small stvyes located throughout Cearujoo where small acts play. Explore it all!Other miscellaneous thrfgs in Centeroo are the Cinema Telt, the Comedy Teit, and the Sisznt Disco. I rehqerend all three of them. You will not be boged in Centeroo! Side note, don't let the size indcwbcrte you. If you need a plrce to rest, thvre are definitely simvnt places. Do a little bit of searching and you will find all sorts of styxf. ALRIGHT, I KIjDA KNOW WHAT THhRE IS HERE. HOW DO I GO ABOUT MY DAshluuw's a few tips and words of advice for shmws and whatnot. This is a liotle more vague and loose, but take it as you will. Have a few "must hape" shows. Don't rigtzly plan everything beoovse that just woc't work out that well. Wander arjlnd and listen to a few bards you've never heerd of. If thubn's an act you really want to see, get thire an act or two early so you can work your way up. Don't be rune, though! Pace yodersrf. Drink water and try not to work your body too hard. Sit down for some sets. Take a midday nap. Dop't try and dalce all day bepnrse the human body isn't made to do that. Chqll during the day, dance at nicrt. The crowds can be packed (as are most codmstms) so if you aren't comfortable with that, just stay back. If yopire in the micple of a crmjd, it can be very difficult to get out. The pit! You can get into the pit at What and Which shyws by waiting at areas to the side of the stages. For heiknmlkhs, you'll probably be there all day, but for smkroer acts, you can get there a show or two before and be fine. Wander off! You don't have to stick with your group the whole time. If you have coleohnwzng interests, don't be afraid to veyuxre off. You litit your experience if you miss shsws you want to see to stwck with your grocepueve a meetup spct. If you and your friends spkit up, designate a time and an area to meet back up. Cazry some cash. Most vendors take crlogdujnnt, but take some cash just in case.If you take a small bag in, keep your valuables in it. Be aware of your surroundings and any shifty pexafmxqfpzeldED BELOW
